Cillian Murphy and Jamie Dornan set to team up again for new Jim Sheridan film

Cillian Murphy and Jamie Dornan are set to team up once again to star in director Jim Sheridan’s upcoming film about the 1983 Maze Prison breakout.

Deadline reports that Cillian and Jamie, who both starred in WWII thriller Anthropoid last year, will play Republican escapees in H-Block, while Pierce Brosnan is in talks to play the warden.

Thirty-eight IRA prisoners escaped from HMP Maze near Belfast in September 1983, which resulted in the death of a prison officer, who died from a heart attack after being stabbed.

This will be the first time Cillian and Jamie work with critically-acclaimed director Jim, whose previous credits include My Left Foot, In the Name of the Father and most recently The Secret Scripture.

Jim is reportedly working on a “shooting script” for the film with Nic Sheff, whose credits include Netflix’s latest series 13 Reasons Why, but the original script for H-Block was written by Tony Devlin and Gavin McCloskey.

Distribution sales of the film are set to take place at Cannes Film Festival next month.
