Great news for Irish radio as JNLR figures are released

There’s great news for Irish radio, as the latest JNLR figures show that nearly every radio show has gone up in listenership, or stayed the same.

According to the latest figures, RTÉ 2fm’s Breakfast Republic with Jennifer Zamparelli, Bernard O’Shea and Keith Walsh has increased it’s audience by 13,000.

This brings their listenership to an impressive 167,000 – which means they sit in the same place as The Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show on Today FM, whose listenership remains unchanged.

Another one of Ireland’s favourite shows, The Nicky Byrne Show with Jenny Greene, has gone up 8,000 bringing it’s total audience to 139,000.

At Today FM, Dermot and Dave gained an extra 12,000 listeners since moving to their mid-morning slot in January – bringing their total listenership to 176,000.

Over at RTÉ Radio One, a spokeswoman for RTÉ told Goss.ie that “13 is lucky for some” – as both Ryan Tubridy and Ray D’Arcy saw their audience rise by 13,000.

This brings their listenership to 336,000 and 236,000 respectively.

Today with Sean O’Rourke on RTÉ Radio One, who took Pat Kenny’s slot when he moved to Newstalk, smashed it’s record and now has an impressive listenership of 354,000.

Meanwhile, it has been revealed that The Pat Kenny Show on Newstalk has a listenership of 148,000.

These latest figures reveal that it’s a great time to be a woman in radio, as RTÉ women have increased their viewership immensely.

Miriam O’Callaghan’s Sunday With Miriam has gone up 11,000, totalling her audience to a whopping 256,000.

Claire Byrne, Mary Wilson, and Marian Finucane have also increased their audiences by 8,000, 3,000, 10,000 (Saturday show) and 18,000 (Sunday show) respectively.

New Recruit: Al Porter has proved he is a hit with listeners | BRIAN MCEVOY

Today FM’s newest recruit Al Porter has been proving a hit with listeners, as he welcomed 7,000 extra listeners to his new lunchtime show. This brings his total audience to 122,000.

The 24-year-old has been compared to Graham Norton and has just completed a sell out comedy tour in Dublin’s Vicar Street.

RTÉ 2fm’s Tracy Clifford Show has welcomed 6,000 new listeners, bringing it’s total to 119,000. While The Eoghan McDermott Show gained 3,000 listeners bringing it’s total to 113,000.
