Johnny Depp warned that he could face perjury charges in Australia

Johnny Depp could face perjury charges in Australia,Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce has warned.

The actor and his then-wife Amber Heard violated Australia’s strict quarantine laws when they failed to declare her dogs, Pistol and Boo, when they flew into the country on a private jet back in 2015.

Amber, who divorced Johnny last year, escaped with a fine and a good behaviour bond – however, a lawsuit between Johnny and his former management has raised more questions about the incident, as it’s been alleged that the Pirates of the Caribbean star was aware that he was breaching the laws.

Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce has warned that if the allegations are true, “there’s a word for that: it is called perjury”.

In an interview with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, the Deputy PM said, “I might have another look at this.”

After receiving a slap on the wrist, Amber and Johnny released an awkward video apologising for their actions, after her lawyers claimed that it was a misunderstanding.

The actress pleaded guilty to falsifying her immigration arrivals card and was placed on a Aus$1,000 (€680) one-month good behaviour bond.

However, legal documents filed in a case between Johnny and his former management TMG, allege that the 54-year-old was “fully aware” that he was breaking the law.

The documents were obtained by People magazine, and they claim that Johnny “pressured one of his long-term employees to ‘take the fall’.”.
