Radio DJ Colm Hayes has admitted he doesn’t want to be playing pop music as he gets older.
Opening up about his move from the afternoon slot to weekend mornings, the broadcaster revealed 2fm is becoming a “younger station”.
“2fm is changing a lot at the moment and it’s becoming a much younger station during the weeks,” he said.

“Do I want to be playing Justin Bieber when I’m 60? Probably not.”
As his slot change was announced, the radio veteran revealed he had been approached by other stations.
“A couple of stations contacted me with a view to going there, but I need to see what I want to do,” he admitted.
“RTE are being very good to me, but commercial radio is where I could go if there was an opportunity that I thought would be good for me.”

Meanwhile, the Santry native revealed he is currently working on TV projects with his radio wingman, comedian Al Porter.
“We’re just working out if Al will be moving to the weekend show with me,” he revealed.
“He may just be doing bits and pieces, as he’s really taken off in England at the moment.
“We’re still writing together, we’re working on a couple of TV shows which we might see commissioned in the New Year,” he said.
