Huge success for RTE as radio shows all report big increase in listeners

RTE will be popping the champagne tonight as it’s good news all around for the station in the latest JNLR figures.

2fm has once again proven to be the top station for young people as the broadcaster has nabbed 4 of the top 10 most listened to radio shows among 15-34s.

Breakfast Republic has been the real winner as the number one music and entertainment breakfast programme on Irish radio.

Loss: Pat Kenny has seen a dip in listeners

Overall RTE have gained an impressive 44,000 new regular listeners this year, although the station did point out that the increase was partially due to the increase in the programme duration.

Unfortunately, the news is not so good for other stations as Today FM’s Anton Savage Show lost 3,000 viewers to round off at 191,000.

Since taking over from his predecessor Ray D’Arcy his ratings have fallen by 24,000.

Pat Kenny’s Newstalk show has also suffered a loss and has dropped from 143,000 to 134,000.

Fellow Today FM star Ian Dempsey has also experienced a dip in viewers and has dropped from 183,000 to 181,000.
