Liam Neeson returning to the big screen as an IRA sniper

He recently said he wants to give up action movies, but it seems Liam Neeson isn’t retiring just yet.

The Irish actor is set to star in a new action movie set during the troubles.

Liam, 62, will play IRA man Johnny Donnelly in A Mad and Wonderful Thing, who falls in love with a woman named Cora.

Originally a novel, the actor has said he is a big fan of the book.

Action star: Liam helped make the movie happen

“I thought it was excellent. Deeply satisfying and moving.” Liam said.

“I also think that sufficient time has passed since the Good Friday Agreement to have a novel that goes inside the head of one of the Troubles’ protagonists and hear the pros and cons of the conflict told in an original way.”

And author Mark Mulholland credited Liam for making the new project come to fruition, with Liam also co-producing the flick:

“It was Liam who did the running on this and made the thing happen,” he told talkofthetown.ie.

“Because of who he is, it brings assurance of a big production and a guarantee of attention.”
