PICS: Glen Hansard, Kodaline and Hozier host free gig to raise homeless crisis awareness

The musicians have illegally taken over Apollo House to house the homeless in Dublin

Glen Hansard was joined by Kodaline and Hozier at a free gig they hosted to raise awareness of the homeless crisis in Ireland.

The musicians are part of the Home Sweet Home campaign, an organisation that aims to take over vacant properties around Ireland to house the homeless.

“This was born out of a concern, born out of a pain in the heart,” Glen told Goss.ie at the sing-song.

Also joining the musicians was Irish band Aslan and many others including poets and singers who are homeless.

The free gig took place at the NAMA-owned Apollo House in Dublin city where the artists performed on top of the car park roof.

The organisation have used the vacant building as shelter to the homeless in Ireland and they have asked the government to become involved in tackling the issue.
