Disney actor Michael Mantenuto died by suicide aged 35

Michael Mantenuto has died at the age of 35.

The actor and hockey player, who starred in the 2004 Disney film Miracle, tragically committed suicide on Monday.

TMZ reports that police found Michael dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in his car in Des Moines, Washington and the death has been ruled a suicide.

Michael joined the army after his acting career and his death was announced by Col. Guillaume Beaurpere.

“Those of you that knew Mike will remember him for his passionate love for his family and his commitment to the health of the force,” Beurpere said in a news release.

Michael played Jack O’Callahan in Miracle, which also starred Kurt Russell and Patricia Clarkson.

The film told the true story of Herb Brooks (played by Russell), a hockey player turned coach who led the US Olympic hockey team to victory in 1980.

Michael went on to TV movie Dirtbags and the film Surfer, Dude before he quit acting to enlist in the U.S. Army and join the Special Forces.
