Drake beats HUGE star’s record at the Billboard Music Awards

Drake has beaten Adele’s Billboard Music Award record of 12 gongs.

The Canadian rapper received 13 gong awards on Sunday night in Vegas at the Billboard Music awards 2017.

The One Dance singer’s wins included: Best Artist, Top Male Artist and Best Rap Artist.

Adele set the record in 2012 with 12 gongs, including the prize for Top Female Artist of the year.

After receiving his Top Artist Award Drake said “I just want to say hold tight Adele because when a new ting drops you will crawl your way back to get the record back.”

Other winners on the night included Beyoncé and ex One direction star, Zayn Malik, but neither were in attendance.

Chris Cornell, who died at the age of 52 last week, was also remembered at the awards with a moment’s silence.

Imagine Dragon’s singer Dan Reynolds praised Chris and called him a “true innovator” and a “prolific songwriter”

“We send our respects as well as our love to Chris’ family at this time” he added.
