Michael Nyqvist has passed away following a battle with lung cancer.
The Swedish actor, best known for starring in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, was 56 years old.
Michael is survived by his wife Catharina and their children Ellen and Arthur, and his family confirmed the sad news in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.
“Michael’s joy and passion were infectious to those who knew and loved him,” they shared. “His charm and charisma were undeniable, and his love for the arts was felt by all who had the pleasure of working with him.”

Michael played Mikael Blomkvist in the 2009 Swedish film adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, starring Noomi Rapace.
He reprised the role in sequels The Girl Who Played With Fire and The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet’s Nest.
The character was portrayed by Daniel Craig in the American adaptation of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, which came out in 2011.
Michael was also known for starring in John Wick alongside Keanu Reeves and Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol with Tom Cruise.
