The Grammys this weekend will pay tribute to Prince and George Michael.

The artists were two of the legends that passed in 2016 and were praised for their contribution to music.

At last year’s awards, Lady Gaga paid tribute to David Bowie who passed just a month before the ceremony.

“George Michael and Prince were pop icons who showcased rare musical genius and otherworldly charisma,” a statement read.

“While each possessed a distinct style and sound, they were both adored by audiences worldwide.

“The passings of two such creative innovators were a huge loss for the creative community; The Recording Academy is humbled to pay homage to their tremendous legacies on the Grammy stage.”

The Grammys take place on Sunday evening in Los Angeles, with highlights on RTE2 on Monday at 9.30pm.
