Kylie Minogue defeats Kylie Jenner’s attempt to trademark their shared name

The legal battle has been ongoing since 2014

Kylie Minogue has defeated Kylie Jenner in the legal battle to trademark the name ‘Kylie.’

The youngest Kardashian-Jenner applied to trademark the name Kylie in the US in April 2014.

The move sparked a feud with Kylie Minogue, whose legal representatives sent the US Patent and Trademark Office a list of reasons why the trademark should not be granted.

The 48-year-old’s legal rep’s letter described Kylie Jenner as ‘a secondary reality television personality’.

It also argued that Kylie Minogue was an ‘internationally-renowned performing artist, humanitarian and breast cancer activist known worldwide simply as “Kylie”.’

Last week, the Patent Office rejected the beauty moguls application to trademark ‘Kylie’.

The Kylie Cosmetics CEO, who wants the name for her clothing and beauty empire, has already lodged an appeal.
