Kim Kardashian responds to blackface accusations over KKW Beauty campaign

Kim Kardashian has addressed the controversy surrounding her new KKW Beauty campaign.

The reality star was accused of wearing blackface after she released the first image to promote her creme contour and highlight kit.

But Kim has now insisted that her apparently darker skin is all just down to her being extremely tanned.

“I would obviously never want to offend anyone,” she said in an interview with the New York Times. “I used an amazing photographer and a team of people.

“I was really tan when we shot the images, and it might be that the contrast was off. But I showed the image to many people, to many in the business. No one brought that to our attention. No one mentioned it.”

Kim explained that the image has since been altered, adding, “Of course, I have the utmost respect for why people might feel the way they did.

“But we made the necessary changes to that photo and the rest of the photos. We saw the problem, and we adapted and changed right away. Definitely I have learned from it.”

The mother-of-two announced the launch of her KKW Beauty line last week, which fans have suggested could rival her younger sister’s popular Kylie Cosmetics products.

Kim’s creme contour and highlight kit comes in four shades – light, medium, dark and deep dark – and will be available to buy online on Wednesday.
