The interview was the first time Brad had spoken about his divorce since his shock split from Angelina emerged in September, and he said, “‘If you love someone, set them free.’ Now I know what it means, by feeling it.”

The couple had been together for 12 years and married for two before they broke up, and they share six children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne.

Brad admitted to GQ that he has been seeing been getting help amid the divorce, revealing, “You know, I just started therapy. I love it, I love it. I went through two therapists to get to the right one.”

The actor shared: “I famously step in s*** – at least for me it seems pretty epic. I often wind up with a smelly foot in my mouth. I often say the wrong thing, often in the wrong place and time … I’m trying to get better. I’m really trying to get better.”

He also revealed he has struggled with drinking too much and smoking weed, and is now putting a stop to that for the sake of his children.

“I can’t remember a day since I got out of college when I wasn’t boozing or had a spliff, or something,” he said. “I stopped everything except boozing when I started my family. But even this last year, you know – things I wasn’t dealing with. I was boozing too much. It’s just become a problem.”
