This HUGE pop star will be hosting the 2017 MTV VMAs

The 2017 MTV VMAs has revealed its host.

Katy Perry is set to present the star-studded ceremony, which is one of the biggest nights on the music calendar.

The news was announced by a video which showed an astronaut travelling through space.

After declaring it was a “Moonwoman” and giving a glimpse of an eye, Katy’s face was unveiled.

“I’ve been training with @MTV in zero gravity, eating astronaut ice cream, and I’m on a group text with Buzz Aldrin and Neil deGrasse Tyson,” she wrote on Instagram alongside the clip.

Katy added: “Come August 27th, I’ll be ready to be your MOONWOMAN! Brace for impact, kids.”

The pop star has been nominated for 25 VMAs over the years and has won five. She is up for another five at next month’s ceremony.

Last year’s ceremony had no host, and Miley Cyrus was the emcee the year before that.

Kevin Hart, Chelsea Handler and Katy’s ex-husband Russell Brand have also hosted the show over the past decade.

The MTV Video Music Awards will take place on August 27th and air live from The Forum in Los Angeles.

The nominations were announced earlier this week, with Kendrick Lamar, Katy and The Weeknd leading the pack.
