This is how the Oscars audience reacted to THAT envelope mix-up

Everyone watching the Oscars was left in shock after Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway announced the wrong Best Picture winner.

And the reaction inside the ceremony was absolutely priceless.

Photos of the audience were captured when a producer came on stage and announced that Moonlight had actually won the night’s top prize, and not La La Land as it had been previously stated.

The stars sitting in the front few rows clearly couldn’t believe their ears, as a snapshot showing Michelle Williams, Busy Philipps, Ben Affleck, Casey Affleck, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Meryl Streep showed.

But the team behind Moonlight were absolutely thrilled, and seen looking flabbergasted but delighted as they jumped for joy in the crowd.

Fortunately the stars of La La Land were a good sport about the whole thing, with Ryan Gosling simply gigging at the flub.

Emma Stone ushered the people behind Moonlight on stage and clapped, later telling reporters in the press room that she loves the movie and is glad that it won.

Priceless: The Oscars audience was in shock after La La Land was accidentally announced as Best Picture instead of Moonlight

Accounting firm PwC, which has overseen the ballot-counting at the Oscars for over 83 years, released a statement about the mixup following the Academy Awards.

“We sincerely apologize to Moonlight, La La Land, Warren Beatty, Faye Dunaway, and Oscar viewers for the error that was made during the award announcement for best picture,” the statement read. “The presenters had mistakenly been given the wrong category envelope and when discovered, was immediately corrected.

“We are currently investigating how this could have happened, and deeply regret that this occurred. We appreciate the grace with which the nominees, the Academy, ABC, and Jimmy Kimmel handled the situation.”
