WATCH: Katy Perry responds to rumours her song Swish Swish is about Taylor Swift

Many have been speculating that Katy Perry’s new song is about Taylor Swift.

And the pop star commented on the rumours during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Friday.

Jimmy asked Katy if the track – which also features Nicki Minaj – is “about anybody we know”.

New music: Katy Perry chatted to Jimmy Fallon about the meaning of her new song Swish Swish | NBC

“I think it’s a great anthem for people to use whenever somebody’s trying to hold you down or bully you,” she responded coyly, doing little to quash claims it’s a response to Taylor’s hit song Bad Blood.

Speaking about her upcoming album Witness and the previous singles she has released from the record, Katy added, “That’s kinda what this record is about, it’s just like 360-degree liberation.

“Chained to the Rhythm was this political liberation, Bon Appétit was a sexual liberation and now, I think this is kind of, Swish represents the liberation from all the negative that doesn’t serve you.”

Swish Swish includes the lyrics, “Cause you’re a joker. And I’m a courtside killer queen. And you will kiss the ring.”

Taylor’s friend Ruby Rose slammed Katy after the song was released, tweeting: “”Purposeful poop” to “bomb a petit” to a sloppy mess of writing over the top of Funkagenda..stop trying to make ‘Wit..I mean “fetch” happen.”

The Orange is the New Black star later added: “I’ve always stood up for the people I love and against things I think are cheap or mean spirited. That’s not new. You have to follow your [heart].”
