His movie Once won an Oscar and was transformed into a musical, and now John Carney’s new movie Begin Again is a chart success.
The Irish director cast Keira Knightley in the film, who plays a singer-songwriter called Greta.
In the movie Keira performs five songs, some of which were co-written by The Frames frontman Glen Hansard.

Last week the soundtrack sold 44,000 copies in the states. The album debuted at No.4 in the soundtrack chart and No.44 in the Billboard charts.
The film also stars Maroon 5’s Adam Levine and actor Adam Ruffalo.
