WATCH: Lily Collins plays a young woman battling anorexia in To The Bone trailer

The official trailer for Lily Collins’s Netflix original film To The Bone has arrived.

The actress plays a young woman named Ellen who is battling anorexia, and begrudgingly moves into a house with other eating disorder sufferers as part of a treatment plan.

With the help of the other residents and an unconventional doctor played by Keanu Reeves, Ellen tries to overcome her demons and rebuild her frayed family relationships.

The movie is extremely important and “very personal” to Lily, who revealed in January that she battled eating disorders as a teenager.

“This was definitely a more dramatic role for me. I suffered with eating disorders when I was a teenager as well,” she said during an IMDb Studio interview to promote the film.

Lily added that she hopes to “really start a conversation” about “a topic that is considered quite taboo”, particularly as somebody who has been through it.

She added: “It caused me to have to emotionally go there, but in a way that was the most safe, healthy way possible with a nutritionist, and really to physically go there but also emotionally and it did require a different set of emotional skills, to kind of go back in time for me, with you know, my experiences.”

To The Bone will be released on Netflix on July 14th. Watch the trailer below:
