Forget Arthur's Day – now it's Guinness Amplify

The replacement for Arthur’s Day has been announced – and it’s called Guinness Amplify.

Bosses at Guinness have scrapped the original day of celebrating Arthur Guiness and will now start Guinness Amplify, which will see up and coming bands play around the country over five weekends.

Hopeful bands will play 500 pubs over 5 weekends, with Snow Patrol star Johnny Quinn as one of the judges.

Snow Patrol’s Johnny announced the news today

Starting September 11th, bands including Kodaline and Ellie Goulding will be playing surprise gigs around the country as part of the new celebration.

In February 2015 there will be Live Stages, and a big concert bringing together the best acts discovered.

Guinness are planning to have a huge push on promoting new bands as part of the programme – with investment of one million euro for them.

The new initiative was announced today at a special gathering at Dublin’s 4 Dame Lane.

Irish band Kodaline were on hand to serenade special guests after the news was revealed.

Speaking at the launch, lead singer Steve Garrigan said:

“It’s really difficult to get studio time and gigs. We did a Guinness thing before..

It comes after Goss.ie revealed last week that Arthur’s Day was set to be replaced.
