If you wanted to be backed by anyone at the Eurovision it would be Johnny Logan – and the music legend has just put his money on Nicky Byrne.
The former Westlife star announced this week that he will be representing Ireland at the Eurovision, with a song he co-wrote called Sunlight.
And while his own former manager Louis Walsh told him he won’t win, Eurovision king Johnny has said he could take the prize home.
“Getting Nicky to represent Ireland and presenting the song and artist this way looks professional for the first time in many years,” he told the Sunday World.
“Nicky has loads of experience and he won’t be fazed by the big stage. He is a good-looking and intelligent guy who will make the country proud,” he added.
Johnny won the Eurovision twice, and since has had a hugely successful career in Europe as well s singing 16 million records.
