TD calls for stronger ticket touting laws after U2 gig outrage

Fine Gael TD Noel Rock said it's not fair

Fine Gael TD Noel Rock has called out for stronger ticket touring laws in Ireland after U2 fans’ outrage.

Many of the band’s fans queued up for endless hours at Dublin’s Stephen’s Green to ensure they were one of the lucky few to secure a ticket to their concert this summer.

However, many tickets have now gone on sale on Ticketmaster’s sister site and re-sale site Seatwave for up to 13 times face value.

“It’s just not fair on true fans who couldn’t obtain a ticket this morning,” he tole RTE.

“The Government now has to act swiftly to outlaw the re-selling of tickets over face value.”

More fans were disheartened to find that when the tickets went on sale many were already gone because some eager sellers signed up to U2’s pre-sale to be the very first to grab tickets.

These tickets were then put on sale on Seatwave before tickets for the summer concert went on sale officially.
