The Pogues’ manager Frank Murray passes away

Frank Murray was an Irish icon in music

Frank Murray, who managed Irish band The Pogues, has passed away.

Reports suggest that the music icon died after suffering a heart attack.

Along with The Pogues, the star also managed Irish rock band Thin Lizzy and British star Elton John.

It was Frank who apparently advised The Pogues to create a Christmas song, which led to the release of the hugely successful Fairytale Of New York.

Frank also supposedly introduced the late Kirsty MacColl, who is the female voice on the track, to the band’s lead singer Shane MacGowan.

Cait O’Riordan, the band’s former bass guitariest, paid her respects to the legend on her Twitter.

“Please light a candle, say a little pray for Frank Murray who left us today,” she wrote.

“RIP that wicked gleam in his eye, that kind heart.”
