2FM boss reveals why they lost Al Porter to Today FM

2FM boss Dan Healy has revealed why they lost Al Porter to Today FM.

It was announced in late January that the comedian would be taking over the lunchtime slot on the station, replacing Dermot And Dave who moved to Anton Savage's 9am slot.

However, Dan admitted that Today FM "had deeper pockets" than they did at 2FM.

Al worked on 2FM last year with Colm Hayes as co-host until Colm left the station in the summer of 2016.

"They can write cheques," Dan told the Irish Independent.

"And we couldn't provide him with the prime-time slot he wanted."

Shortly after the announcement, the Dubliner explained why he chose to work with Today FM over 2FM.
