Twink opens up on traumatic home break-in: 'I walked in and saw the devastation'

Twink has opened up on the trauma of having her house broken into.

The panto queen was recently the victim of burglars who broke into her Dublin home and is now opening up on the ordeal.

“The irony was it was deceptive as I walked in the door, it looked calm and normal as usual and I went to get my charger for my phone upstairs. The landing was in disarray,” she told The Pat Kenny Show on Newstalk.

“There’s a large square foot in my room and there wasn’t once square inch of it visible – the destruction was frightening. Pictures were taken off walls and smashed, panels behind toilets were pulled out and snapped.

“In the walk in closet, which was completely trashed and everything taken, including everything I wanted to give to my daughters, the wooden barrier that encases the covers of the underfloor heating  – they’d taken the entire metal casing off the manifold head covers.

“There was stuff smashed and there are days I walk in still and see the devastation and destruction and think,’ Why?’

“The pair of earrings I have on is the pair I left the house in that day. They left me buckets of plastic crap – all the costume jewellery, handbags – they knew what they were taking.”

Twink also revealed she discovered a garden shovel at her home which gardai told her would have been used as a weapon against her if she had been home at the time.

“They found a massive garden shovel sitting on a pile of clothes. I asked the head garda of the investigation – as he was writing notes, the forensic guy was dusting the shovel down, I asked, as matter of interest, ‘Was that intended to be used on me?”

“He never looked up from the notebook and said ‘You’d be sure it would have been used on you’, not batting an eyelid,” she said.

“Don’t think I’d have not picked up the shovel myself. I might think, God help them if I walked in on them.”

Trauma: Twink admitted she’s living in fear in her own home | VIPIRELAND.COM

The experience has left the TV star fearful of living in her own home ever since.

“I love Rathfarnham. You’re not a big deal anymore, you’re just one of the neighbours,” she said.

“[Now], I jump at everything. I was never fearful. I was brought up in an Ireland where we left the windows and doors open , with that freedom.

“You’re trying to get out to work to try and entertain people and someone is burgling your home.
