Baz Ashmawy makes welcome return to the airwaves

Fans of Baz Ashmawy were delighted by his return to RTE radio this week, almost five years after his weekend breakfast show was axed.

The 50 Ways To Kill Your Mammy star was welcomed with open arms at the station, as he filled in for Ray D’Arcy on his RTÉ Radio 1 afternoon programme.

A source told the Herald that Baz is covering for Ray for three days while he’s on a mid-term break with his family.

Speaking on his Snapchat (bashmawy), the presenter admitted that he was “excited” because he got to meet former Neighbours star Jason Donovan, as he interviewed him about his current show at the Bord Gais Energy Theatre, Million Dollar Quartet.

“I’ve had a bit of a man-crush on Jason Donovan for a long time,” Baz admitted.

Baz also joked that he was “definitely back in RTE” as he filmed himself with bells ringing in the background.

“I can’t remember the last time I heard the Angelus,” he laughed.
