Colette Fitzpatrick ‘disappointed’ after being axed from Pat Kenny Tonight

Colette Fitzpatrick is said to be “disappointed” after being axed from the Pat Kenny Tonight show.

Over the weekend, it was rumoured that the broadcaster was set to leave the show, however, it has now been confirmed that TV3 asked her to step down ahead of the show’s return on Wednesday night at 10pm.

According to the Irish Sun, Colette was informed of the decision last week.

An insider said, “TV3 has taken Colette off the show. She is very disappointed as she feels she did an excellent job on the programme last season.”

Sources also stressed that Colette being axed had nothing to do with her co-host Pat Kenny, as the decision was made solely by station bosses.

The brunette will continue to host TV3’s The 5:30 news programme.

The news comes after Pat Kenny Tonight, which was launched last Autumn, came under fire for excluding Colette’s name from the show’s title, given she was its co-anchor.

However, at the time, Colette said that she “always knew the show was going to be called Pat Kenny Tonight”.

“Without sounding ageist, Pat has more experience than me. He has nearly three decades on me, so obviously he is the lead role on this. It doesn’t mean I’m going to be doing very little, I have a substantial role,” she added.
