Ex-Miss Ireland Emma Waldron: 'It's great being single in America – men are SO forward'

Former Miss Ireland Emma Waldron has been shocked at how forward American men are at asking her out.

The Kildare beauty, 25, has recently been snapped up by top US modelling agency MSA and is hoping to pursue a career Stateside.

And Emma – who split from her long-term boyfriend Manners Oshafi earlier this year after seven years together – said the dating scene is so much better in the States.

She said: “The dating scene is so different than Ireland! American men will just come up to you on the street to say hi or ask if you’d like to get a coffee.

“They’re vocal — there’ll be a nice little comment on what you’re wearing or how you’re looking as you walk past them.

“I embrace it and I’m having fun. I’m 25 and single for the first time in seven years. It’s what I need!”

Gorgeous Emma was our best result in Miss World since Rosanna Davison, finishing in fourth place.

And Emma – who quit her job as a teacher for a chance to further her fashion plans – said New York can be extremely tough.

She said: “It’s tough in New York. No one’s there for an easy time — it’s intense. There were days this summer when I burst into tears at night. It can be lonely.”

She added to the Irish Sun: “This summer I went over there on a tourist visa. I didn’t really know anyone and I didn’t know what would happen.

“But I recognised that modelling would be a great inroad into other things — I’m interested in anything creative, I love acting and writing too — and that it would allow me to work and stay in the States.”
