EXCLUSIVE! PJ Gallagher confirms role in The Young Offenders TV series

PJ Gallagher has confirmed that he will return to The Young Offenders, but not in the role you would expect.

Speaking to Goss.ie at the Coca Cola Thank You Fund launch today, the comedian exclusively confirmed that he will be returning for the television adaptation of the hit movie – but as a totally different character.

PJ, who played baddie Ray in the film, has now been recast as a Principal from Dublin, who becomes the headmaster of a school in Cork in the TV series.

The Naked Camera star said that he “wasn’t trusted” with the storylines from the upcoming show, but he can reveal that there will be “chaos” between him and nightmare students Conor and Jock.

The comedian also commented that rehearsals for the six episode show will begin in July. and filming will commence in August.

Speaking about his experience filming the movie, PJ said that he had a blast, “I came in at the very end. They hadn’t cast the baddie until then. I filmed my parts over 4 days.

“I had seen loads of bits of what had been done already so it was a bit like watching Star Wars then saying yeah, I’ll do Luke Skywalker”.

PJ was in Stephens Green today to support the launch of The Coca Cola Thank You Fund, an initiative which has donated  €100,000 to community projects which assist and inspire young people.

The Dublin native said that he wanted to get involved with the fund because today’s youth are sometimes unappreciated and underestimated. “The youth get such a slagging these days, they deserve more support because they are the ones changing everything.”
