EXCLUSIVE! Teresa Mannion and Denise McCormack get emotional after DWTS elimination

Teresa Mannion and Denise McCormack got seriously emotional after Dancing With The Stars tonight, as Teresa was booted out of the competition.

The pair found themselves in the dreaded bottom two, and after the show’s first Dance Off, which they brought in this week – Teresa and her professional dance partner John were forced to close the book on their DWTS journey.

However, the Dance Off proved seriously difficult for Teresa and Denise, as they had grown so close over the past few weeks.

Speaking to Goss.ie, a visibly emotional Denise said, “She [Teresa] is one of the nicest ladies I’ve ever met, so to be in the dance off with Teresa was so hard.”

“It’s not nice to be in the dance off, especially when it’s with the person that keeps you up when you’re feeling down.”

Meanwhile, Teresa revealed that she hopes Denise goes on to win the show with her dance partner Ryan McShane, and admitted that she’s “surprised” she lasted so long in the competition.

“I want Denise to win, I’ve said it from the very beginning because I love Denise.

“I was surprised to be in it for so long, we had a great great time. I’ve no regrets about doing this, it’s really scary; the nerves, putting myself out there. Then it was such a huge show and such massive ratings, I thought ‘what am I doing here?’

“But actually as the weeks went by and I started to improve a bit, I felt it was all worth it and I met some amazing people. John, my professional dance partner is a friend for life, and one of the best experiences of the whole thing was meeting him.”

“And I just hope he’s huge in Ireland and elsewhere because he’s going to go from strength to strength and everybody will want to be thought lessons by him.

“I think people felt ‘well if Teresa can actually do it, maybe I could have a go as well’, so if I inspired people to join dancing lessons that’s great. I’m going to join lessons myself when I go back to Galway.

“With no background in dancing I really felt it and doing quick step and the foxtrot and it was always in my head, would I remember the steps. After a while it was like cycling a bike or driving a car,” she added.

Meanwhile, Teresa’s dance partner John Nolan said, “when Teresa and I started together, to not be the first couple to go was the goal – the fact we got to week 8 is just unbelievable, I genuinely can’t be prouder of Teresa. From where we started to where we got to tonight – I remember the first rehearsal she did and she couldn’t spin under my arm.

“You hear this on shows, it’s a cliche thing where you’ll be friends for life but she’s an absolute lady, her family is lovely and they genuinely will be in my life forever, definitely.”

Speaking about life after DWTS, John said, “My main goal is to build a dance school, Exquisite Dance, in Tallaght. To really get the number up and just to keep dancing and hopefully we’re back in again next year for DWTS.”
