Here’s what to expect at Forbidden Fruit Festival this weekend

Bulmers Forbidden Fruit Festival is BACK for it’s 7th year this week, taking place once again in the stunning Irish Museum of Modern Art at Royal Hospital Kilmainham.

With 6 stages to check out, a host of incredible music, comedy, and lots more to see and do across the 3 days – there will be something for everyone at the popular festival this year.

Aside from the awesome line up of Irish and international music acts, the Comedy Tent will be bursting with some of Ireland’s finest and best-loved comedians joining the festivities, and the tent will be MC’d by the human dynamo, Andrew Stanley, a man known for taking on and destroying the most committed of hecklers (be warned!).

The Comedy Tent will run from 4pm -8pm on both Sat June 3rd and Sun June 4th with Bingo Loco taking place from 6 pm – 9pm on the SomePlace Else Stage.

If you’re not into stand up, why not spread the love and confetti at Forbidden Fruit’s giant Inflatable Church, complete with its own extraordinary Vicar and kooky congregation. Get dressed up in your wedding finery and get married to your best friend, your lover or your enemy.

As well as that, all weekend the Wedding Disco will be the place at this year’s Forbidden Fruit to celebrate the good times, dance into the rhythm of the night with 90s R&B, 80s classics, soulful House & Disco with secret sets from DJs playing their ‘wedding disco’ faves. Brought to you by professional party starters Matt The Hat & Kaptin, expect impromptu congas, bouquet tossing, and lots and lots (and lots!) of confetti.

The Disco Dodgems will also be back once again this year! In the words of the almighty Sultans of Ping F.C, you’ll be dancing in the disco bumper to bumper to the very best of disco and soul. DJing while you dodge, the line-up across the weekend includes Sally Cinnamon, Donal Dinneen, Colin Perkins, Long Island Sound, Hidden Agenda, Discotekken, Bodytonic DJ’s This Greedy Pig, Mel Donnellan, Cian O’Connell, Ross MacMahon, Arveene and some very special guests.

For all the thirsty festival goers this year, the menu for this year’s Forbidden Fruit Festival definitely doesn’t disappoint, including thirst quenchers like Cloudy Gin, made with gin, freshly squeezed apple juice topped with Bulmers Cloudy Lemon.

Festival favourite, the Apple Mojito is whipped up with vodka, fresh mint, pressed apple, fresh lime, topped with soda. The Pink Lady features vodka, fresh mango, lemon & lime sours, topped with Bulmers Original Cider. The Orange Sailor will get you feeling nautical, made with spiced rum, pineapple puree, topped with freshly squeezed lime and topped with Red Bull Orange. Also joining Bulmers Original Cider will be 5Lamps Dublin Lager & Outcider.

Those of you with a sweet tooth will be thrilled to know that you can get your hands on some amazing Aungier Danger Donuts this year! These guys know donuts, and have made flavour combinations that would blow your mind and your tastebuds. Inventors of The Jaff, The HoneyFoam and Banoffee donuts, they’ll be on hand to take care of your every confectionary need.

Forbidden Fruit fans will be delighted to know that the funfair is also back with a bang this year, where you can go for a gentle spin on the gorgeous vintage carousel or get into the swing of things on the Swing Chairs.
