Interview: Amy Huberman was roped in as 'unpaid editor' on BOD's book – but there'll be NO joint signings

Amy Huberman has revealed she lined out as an unpaid editor to whip husband Brian O’Driscoll’s autobiography into shape.

The TV star is one of Ireland’s best selling modern authors and was happy to lend a hand – especially to check what BOD has been saying about her in the book.

She told Goss.ie: “It has been crazy in the house with Brian just finishing the book and being pregnant. Our house never seems to have any routine or structure – that’s just the way it is.

“But I am relieved for him that it’s done, and I know what that feels like. I’ve read the book, I read it with him. I was an unpaid editor.

“I think as well with someone who knows you so well, I was reading it in non-rugby terms, for all the other little things.

“It’s hard when there’s a deadline and something, for your whole career, actually has to happen in such a short space of time. And you have to take time and care over it.”

However asked at the launch of Dundrum’s new TK Maxx if they would consider going on joint signing tours, the 35-year-old said: “I don’t think so, but I will say it to him.”

Meanwhile, the Stag star told Goss.ie that she is finding it a lot tougher being pregnant second time round – ahead of the baby being due in November.

And Amy admits that having one-year-old Sadie means she can never “escape” the pains that go with expecting.

She added: “You just have less time to be indulgent about it. It’s all the cliches, people say you don’t have time because you have a toddler, and they’re right God damn it.

“But there’s no time for feeling sorry for yourself. You get some sympathy, but it’s limited. And I think that may be good – it just passes.

“But the days you don’t feel great, you feel treblefold because you can’t escape it, you can’t lie in.”

But Amy insisted that her and Brian have no plans to discover the sex of the baby – and aren’t hoping for a boy to complete their family.

She told Goss.ie: “We’re not going to find out the sex of the baby, not at this stage. It is tempting, when they say you can.

“But no – I think we’re just going to leave it. I’m not hoping for a boy, we’re really not.

“I think either way it’s good – if Sadie has a sister, and if we have a little boy, it’s nice to have a girl and a boy. So either is really good.

“She doesn’t know what’s happening – I barely know what’s happening.”
