Jennifer Zamparelli describes the ‘abuse’ she received after first radio show

Jennifer Zamparelli said that she and her co-stars Bernard O’Shea and Keith Walsh received ‘abuse’ after their first Breakfast Republic show.

2017 is off to a great start for the 2fm stars as recent JNLR figures show that Breakfast Republic remains the number one radio show in Ireland for 15-34s.

But the show wasn’t always a roaring success, she admitted that at the beginning she and her co-stars caused 2fm to haemorrhage listeners.

The former Apprentice star told The Irish Sun, “It probably went out too soon and we needed a bit more time together.

“I’d never worked in radio. We’d never worked together as a threesome. People think you can just put up the faders and it’s going to be magic and it’s not.

“It takes time to gel and not talk over each other and learn each other’s moods and how we’re all going to gel.”

The mother-of-one also spoke about the RTE comedy show Republic of Telly being axed, the show where she got her first big TV break.

“It was probably the right time. It was time to move on. I think RTE will come up with another vehicle to harness comedy talent, because I learned so much.

“I had no comedy background, and you go on a show like Republic of Telly and you’re working with the best writers and producers and comedians and you pick up so much, it’s like a training ground.”

Republic of Telly was where Jennifer’s hit show Bridget and Eamon originated.

Bridget and Eamon has been picked up by TV stations in both the UK and the US, and Jennifer is hopeful for a third series.

“We’ve got an amber light, but we’re in an office. Myself and (co-writers) Bernard O’Shea and Jason Butler are always writing all the time so we’re bouncing around ideas.

“We’ve a lot of things on the go.”
