WATCH: Jeremy McConnell sets the record straight on ITV’s This Morning

Jeremy McConnell appeared on ITV’s This Morning to set the record straight on what’s going on between him and his ex Stephanie Davis.

The Bray native sat down with Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby after a nurse collected samples for a DNA test to find out, once and for all, if he’s the father of Stephanie’s newborn son Caben.

Jeremy found out that Stephanie was pregnant one month after they had split in April 2016, and after admitting that he had been unfaithful in their relationship, he insisted on clarifying that he never said that he was not the father – he just wanted confirmation as the former Hollyoaks star had admitted to sleeping with other men during that month after they had split.

After Phillip and Holly read out a statement from Stephanie’s rep that revealed that Jeremy had been offered the opportunity to get a DNA test on numerous occasions if he signed a contract, the This Morning co-hosts admitted that they had read the confidential contract with experts.

However, after going through the contract, Phillip and Holly found that the terms of the contract were entirely “unreasonable”, with Phillip even admitting that he wouldn’t have signed it either.

Despite his feelings toward Stephanie and their apparent “toxic” relationship, Jeremy said, “I could easily be the dad, I hope I am the dad. I just want to sort it.”

However, the reality star wanted to stress that him not getting back with Stephanie was the best decision, as people have no idea what was going on behind the scenes.

“We tried to fix the relationship so many times. I stood up and did the right thing. If I had to do it again tomorrow, I would. Our relationship was not right. I’m not putting a baby at risk.

“I’m not going to go into detail about it. I’m not here to slander anyone or bad mouth her, she’s a lovely girl and I did have a lot of love for her. But, people need to know why I did not get back with her and there was a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes.”

Finishing up the interview, Jeremy said that if the DNA test proves that he is the father of Caben-Albi, he will “100%” step up to the plate and be there for his son.

After insisting that Stephanie is trying to “puppeteer” the public, he admitted that he wanted to put their differences aside and “do the right thing”.

Since Jeremy’s appearance on This Morning, Stephanie took to Twitter to release a statement about him taking a DNA test live on TV.

The actress also hit out at his claim that he”never said” that he wasn’t the father of Caben, by posting a screenshot of a tweet he wrote to a fan saying, “She’s not pregnant with my child come on”, and, “It’s all lies I’ve been told by her friends”.
