Maia Dunphy SLAMS people who mock older mothers

Maia Dunphy has slammed people who suggest women should be of a younger age to start a family.

The RTÉ star, who welcomed her first child Tom into the world alongside husband Johnny Vegas last year, admitted that she would definitely like to have more kids – but not right now.

“We have two boys in our lives. I’m not ruling out [having more kids], but I’m certainly not planning it now,” she told the Irish Daily Mail.

“I got pregnant really quickly and I had a perfect pregnancy. I’d no problems and I didn’t put on that much weight, I wasn’t sick, so I was very lucky.

“Everyone is so obsessed with age and people ask, “Do you wish you had him younger?

“And there’s no point in asking that. It’s so futile. I had him at 39. Sleep deprivation is sleep deprivation, whether you’re 21 or 41, and I’m healthier now than in my 20s. I want to enjoy Tom while he’s little,” she explained.

New venture: Maia has started a blog about motherhood | VIPIRELAND.COM

Earlier this year, Maia set up a blog about motherhood called The M Word.

“So this is the thing I’ve been working on; come hang out and share honest/ awkward/ real parenting stories with us!” she wrote about her new project in April.

The M Word promises to be a place for women to “share the real trials of raising a family”.

“Motherhood not all it’s cracked up to be? Don’t worry, you’re not alone…..welcome to The M Word, where women share the REAL trials of raising a family,” Maia wrote on her blog.
