Mrs Brown’s Boys star Rory Cowan reveals why he tells fans to ‘f**k off’

Rory Cowan has revealed why he thinks it’s perfectly expectable to tell some fans to “f**k off”.

The 57-year-old, best known for playing Rory Brown in Mrs Brown’s Boys, admitted that he recently told a particularly rude fan at the VIP Style Awards to get lost.

“Everyone asks for autographs and photographs and that’s no problem. I was trying to talk to a group of journalists and Adele King was beside me and this woman came along and said, ‘Come on now, I want a photograph with you’, almost grabbing me.

“Now normally I’d say can you hold on, but I just turned around to her and said ‘f**k off ‘,” he told the Irish Mirror.

“She wasn’t even coming to the same event as me, she was heading over to the Bord Gais [Theatre] and she could see I was in the middle of something. I could have said OK, I’ll drop everything but I just thought, ‘You feckin rude cow’.

“She was disgusted, she walked off and I could see her yacking and giving out to her friend about me.

“If people are rude to me I want them out of my space immediately and the way to do it is to say f**k off. Most fans are lovely but I’m like Boy George – he used to feel guilty when he was rude to people but then realised they were rude to him,” he explained.

The actor also warned that fame isn’t all what is seems, despite what some people might think.

“They think when they get the fame this is a normal life, but it’s not. I would hate to think if I was 19 that this was a normal life and then at 24 or 25 it was finished and I was a washed-up has-been.

“Thank God I’m at the age where I know this is not going to last for ever. Fame is wonderful to get but once you have it, it’s very hard. If you chase it then you can’t get rid of it.

“Once you court it and you get it you’re a prisoner. You need to find a way of dealing with it positively,” he added.
