Neil Jordan settles court action against Dublin Bus

Neil Jordan has settled a High Court case taken against Dublin Bus following a fall in the city centre.

The Sligo native was seeking damages following an incident that occurred on April 19th 2013. Both Dublin Bus and the driver have denied liability over the incident.

The Crying Game director has previously said that he had been crossing the road at Dawson Street with a green pedestrian light when a bus came around the corner and he subsequently fell trying to get out of the way.

He commented that the bus approached him in an “aggressive manner” before it “suddenly stopped”.

Neil had been using a walking stick at the time of the incident as he had undergone knee ligament surgery the previous week.

Previously speaking about the incident to various media outlets Neil has said, “I couldn’t move out of my house for about a year and for another two years I was kind of incapable – my movement was very restricted so I had to stop making films”.

Neil claimed he suffered loss, damage, personal injuries, inconvenience and expense due to alleged negligence and breach of duty by Dublin Bus.

Both sides went into legal talks and several hours later the Judge was told the matter had been settled.

No details of the settlement were revealed in court and Neil declined to comment while leaving the Four Courts yesterday.
