Popular Snapchat star to appear on First Dates Ireland this week

Paddy Smyth will appear on First Dates Ireland this week, and viewers are going to fall in love with him.

Paddy has gained a huge following on Snapchat (@paddyysmyth) over the past two years using the hashtag #mydisabledlife, as he documents his life dealing with Cerebral Palsy in his legs and walking with crutches full time.

The Snapchatter showcases all aspects of his life, and calls his followers #mydisablers in a bid to ‘disable’ the stigma around having a disability – and now, he’s looking for love.

In the promo video for Thursday night’s First Dates Ireland, Paddy admits that he’s never had a proper relationship, which he blames on his “insecurity of being disabled”.

Viewers will find it hard not to fall in love with Paddy on First Dates, as he hilariously quips that he doesn’t know how to talk to men and shows off his (gorge) rose gold crutches in the promo clip.

This isn’t Paddy’s first venture into TV since gaining a big following on Snapchat, as he’s landed a segment on TV3’s Six O’Clock Show every Tuesday to chat about all things Celebrity Masterchef.

The hilarious Snapchatter will also be attempting to cook one of the dishes on his Snapchat story every week, which is guaranteed a lot of laughs as Paddy has already admitted that he’s a “disaster of a cook”.

So, will Paddy find love on First Dates Ireland? Find out on Thursday night at 9.30pm on RTÉ 2.
