Ruth Negga missed out at the BAFTAs tonight, and people really aren’t happy.
The 70th British Academy Film Awards took place on February 12 at the Royal Albert Hall in London, where Ruth was nominated for the Rising Star award.
However, despite the Oscar buzz around Ruth’s name – 20-year-old British actor Tom Holland, best known as the new Spider-man, took home the award.
Tom and Ruth were nominated alongside Anya Taylor-Joy, Lucas Hedges and Laia Costa – but people are seriously outraged that Ruth wasn’t crowned the BAFTA Rising Star. See what they had to say on Twitter:
Ruth Negga should have won the Rising Star award…she is awesome in Loving. Another public vote gone wrong. @BAFTA #BAFTA2017

Of all the BAFTA categories, Rising Star is always the most consistently great. Just full of brilliant actors. Gutted for Ruth Negga though
