There will be performances from Glen Hansard, who is also being honoured during the evening, and Glenn & Ronan, who went viral last year for their amazing medley of Adele songs.

Caitriona, who hails from Dublin, has starred as lead character Claire in the smash hit series Outlander since 2014.

This weekend the 37-year-old will be competing for a Best Actress – Television Series Drama Golden Globe Award.

Caitriona is also nominated at the People’s Choice Awards later this month, and was recently up for a Critics’ Choice Award but lost out to Westworld’s Evan Rachel Wood.

“It’s been a great year for Irish actresses and we’re delighted to honor one who is receiving well-deserved recognition for her success in Outlander,” US-Ireland Alliance founder Trina Vargo said in a statement.

“Given Caitriona’s intense schedule of time travel, and the cold and rainy Scottish weather, our event should be relaxing for her. The one thing that Outlander and the Oscar Wilde Awards have in common is whiskey.”
