DWTS star Aidan O’Mahony admits being away from newborn has been ‘very hard’

Aidan O’Mahony has admitted that being away from his newborn baby has been “very hard”, as he gears up for tonight’s Dancing With The Stars semi-final.

The footballer and his wife Denise Healy welcomed their first child, a daughter named Lucia, last week – and the pair are totally over the moon.

“Last week was a very joyous week for us, and doing the dance last Sunday was more relaxed for me, because obviously when you have an eventful week like we had, my baby and my wife came first.

“This week I am looking forward to the semi-final because when you have a baby, you have a very positive mindset,” he told the Irish Mail on Sunday.

Although Aidan is thrilled to have made it so far in DWTS, spending so much time away from his wife and newborn daughter has been extremely difficult for him.

“I thought I’d be home long before this, to be there to mind the baby. My wife has been very supportive and last weekend was very hard for me, coming away from the baby.

“But my wife said ‘Look, you’ve started it, you might as well finish it and give it 110%” – that’s the way I’ve always been in sport and work.”

Aidan and his dance partner Valeria will be jiving to Drive It Like You Stole It on Dancing With The Stars tonight. Tune in to RTÉ One at 6.30pm.
