Ryan Tubridy gave a passionate speech about the way women and children are treated in this country on this weekend’s Late Late Show.
The RTE presenter had historian Catherine Corless on the show, who first discovered that a huge amount of children had been mistreated and died in a Tuam Mother and Babies Home.
After several guests shared their personal stories, Ryan told the audience that in recent weeks he has had guests on the show waiting for surgery, and spoke about homeless families that were watching the show from hotel rooms around the country.
Intense: Ryan said what everyone was thinking | VIPIRELAND.COM
“What is wrong with this country,” he started.
“That we don’t seem to be able to get a handle on how to treat women, particularly children, with any great respect generation after generation.
“What are we doing wrong?”
“Everything is out in the open,” Catherine said.
“Isn’t it a great chance now for the government, for the state…to try and do the right thing and have a bit of compassion and just get an understanding of what’s going on in everyone’s lives and just listen to people.

After thanking her for her time the audience stood on their feet in appreciation and admiration of the historian who brought the story of so many families to life.
“Now that’s something,” Ryan said. “That’s something I haven’t seen in a long time.”
People at home clearly took notice of the interview, and took to Twitter to applaud both Ryan and Catherine.
