Nicky Byrne has admitted that Brian McFadden left Westlife “in the lurch” when he decided to quit the band.
The former Westlife star was chatting to Take That on his RTE 2fm show about Robbie Williams leaving the group, when he brought his personal experience into the interview.
He was asking the band whether Robbie’s decision to leave the band was a surprise like Brian’s exit was to them.
The 38-year-old then said, “Brian left us in the lurch, let’s be honest.”

“It’s that moment as well. I remember when Brian left and you kinda you have the thoughts of ‘should I follow him?’ You know. ‘Is someone gonna follow him?’ And nobody did.”
The 38-year-old also said that he felt Brian left at the height of the Westlife fame because he was under pressure.
But there seems to be no bad blood between the former bandmates, as Nicky expressed that as time has gone on, everything is forgiven.
“He kinda felt, in living in that bubble at that height of what it was, everyone’s under pressure as you said. But yeah you grow up, all is forgiven and things change.”
