RTÉ respond to claims that Dancing With The Stars is ‘fixed’

RTÉ has responded to claims that Dancing With The Stars is fixed.

Des Bishop was voted off last on Sunday – and people were furious.

Despite the comedian receiving higher points in the judges scores than Des Cahill and Teresa Mannion on the night, he still got the boot.

The funny man didn’t hold back with his comments after he was voted off and RTÉ had to respond to viewers about the voting system.

RTÉ producer Larry Bass spoke out to reassure viewers that the voting is “entirely fair.”

“The public voting system on our show is entirely fair,” he told the Irish Sun.

“The same thing happens on this show around the world where people like Des, he might not be great dancers, get votes because they are comical or entertaining.”

A spokeswoman also said, “We don’t give breakdowns on the voting as this information is commercially sensitive and may also have an impact on the voting patterns for the remaining shows.

“It works the same for Strictly on the BBC.”

RTÉ have declined to produce the official results of the night but insisted that the votes are independently audited by Price Waterhouse Coopers.

Catch this week’s Dancing with the Stars Ireland at 6.30pm on RTÉ One.
