The Irish soccer community has been left in a state of shock at the sudden passing of Derry footballer Ryan McBride.
The 27-year-old had played twice for the club this week, in the wins against Dundalk and Drogheda United, but had been said to have felt unwell during after the games.
The footballer was found dead at his home in Derry on Sunday evening, and the cause of death is unknown.
President Michael D Higgins led the flood of condolences coming in on Twitter.
“Along with all those who support Irish football, I express my sadness and condolences to the family of @derrycityfc Captain Ryan McBride.”
