TV3 is set to bring Ireland’s Got Talent to our screens, in a bid to rival RTÉ’s Dancing With The Stars.
According to the Irish Sun, station boss Bill Malone was in the audience for a semi-final of Britain’s Got Talent on June 1.
Bill was sitting close to producer Darren Smith, of Kite Entertainment, who is involved in negotiations to bring an Irish version of the ITV show to TV3.
A source told the newspaper, “It’s a huge investment but TV3 needs a huge show like Ireland’s Got Talent to take on Dancing With The Stars on RTE One.”

The station are expected to announce their plans for Ireland’s Got Talent at their autumn launch on August 30, but a deal has yet to be signed.
“The success of Dancing With The Stars on RTE really put it up to TV3. Now TV3 want to hit back with shows that look as good as Dancing With The Stars,” said a source.
“But the station can only take that chance with successful formats like an Irish version of Britain’s Got Talent. RTE’s Dancing With The Stars can expect some strong competition from TV3 next year.”

The news comes after TV3 revealed plans to bring Blind Date to our screens, and it will be hosted by comedian Al Porter.
TV3’s new Virgin Media owners are said to be flashing the cash to land some ratings winners, in a bid to take on both RTE One and RTE Two.
RTÉ previously eyed up the potential to make Ireland’s Got Talent back in 2015 – and Louis Walsh was gearing up to take part.
“I said I would do Ireland’s Got Talent next year and I met RTE about it,” he said.
And just last year, Simon Cowell promised that Ireland’s Got Talent would be made, after making the same promise to his pal Louis Walsh.
“It should be, it better be because that was the promise I made Louis,” he said at the time.
