Cillian Murphy reveals his troubles with being away from home

Cillian Murphy has revealed he found his latest filming schedule difficult – because he was away from his family.

Speaking to Miriam O’Callaghan on her RTE radio show, the Cork actor admitted filming Peaky Blinders was tough on his family life.

The father of two sons recently moved back to Ireland earlier this year after living in London for 14 years.

“It’s hard being away from home, and it’s a very intense schedule. But that’s it great work, it’s really really good writing,” he said.

The 39-year-old admitted that he thinks highly of his home country, saying that “Irish people are sound”.

“That’s what you forget, you know, and you don’t get that as much in London. You operate on a different level of communication”

Meanwhile Cillian revealed that while he loves film and TV he can’t wait to get back to theatre work.

“I’ll never leave the gap long enough or as long as I did before. There was a big ache in me not doing it, so I’ll do it again shortly I’d say.”

The actor’s BBC show, Peaky Blinder’s, returned on our screens Thursday night with a cheeky surprise for viewers.
