EXCLUSIVE: Actor Eoin Macken delighted after The Night Shift gets second series

Former Fair City actor Eoin Macken has said he feels “humbled” after a second season of US hit series The Night Shift has been comissioned.

The Dublin star, who is best known for his role as Gwaine in BBC series Merlin, has been tipped as the new Dr McDreamy.

Already the first season of The Night Shift has been a hit with NBC viewers, and now Eoin aka Dr. TC Callahan.

“I literally found out moments before it was awash on twitter and variety, so we had no idea until pretty much everybody else did,” Eoin told Goss.ie.

“I’m more humbled than anything else, because of the reaction from people being so excited by it.

“I’m just happy to be part of it and mainly because I want to work with all these people again.”

The Night Shift is currently airing its 8-part first season. It launched to a viewership of 7.8 million in May.

The show follows the lives of the ER staff who work the late shift. Eoin said the cast have been waiting a long time to find out if season two would ever happen.

“We don’t have exact dates yet, but late autumn seems to be the plan. It’s been a hard wait as we weren’t given any indication either way,”

“But people have been so supportive that it’s really cool for it to have happened when so many people have been asking for it,” he added.
