EXCLUSIVE! Nicky Byrne has ‘parked’ his music career for Dancing With The Stars

The singer represented Ireland at this year's Eurovision

Nicky Byrne has revealed that he’s taking a break from his music career, as he gears up to host RTÉ’s Dancing With The Stars.

The Westlife star represented Ireland at this year’s Eurovision with his solo single, Sunlight – but the Dubliner told Goss.ie that he’s focusing on presenting now, as he’s set to host the Irish version of Strictly with Amanda Byram.

“It’s parked at the moment,” he said about the future of his music career.

Nicky co-wrote many songs for Westlife before they split in 2012, and has since become one of 2FM’s most popular radio hosts.

“I’ve nothing planned at the moment, unless down the road we can look at another solo album, or a Westlife reunion if that raises it’s head – but there’s no plans of that either,” he told Goss.ie.

“He doesn’t have time to sing,” Amanda chirped in about his busy schedule.

Nicky also addressed whether or not he will be taking to the DWTS stage himself as a performer – and admitted that he wouldn’t do it unless he was joined by his former bandmates.

“I haven’t even thought about it to be honest with you. Probably not unless Westlife were doing it, I’ve no solo album coming out at the minute.

“No reason to do it just for the sake of doing it. It is an opportunity for anybody to come in, the likes of Olly Murs or Robbie Williams to come over and perform on the show,” he added.

Dancing With The Stars airs on Sunday January 8th on RTE 1 from 6.30pm.
