Game of Thrones fans just got some VERY exciting news

Game of Thrones may be coming to an end, but it seems we might not be saying goodbye to Westeros after all.

HBO is currently working with four different writers to develop ideas for potential spinoff shows, something the network has never done before.

The writers are Max Borenstein (Kong: Skull Island), Brian Helgeland (Legend), Jane Goldman (Kingsman: The Golden Circle),  and Carly Wray (Mad Men, The Leftovers).

Goldman and Wray will also be working directly with George R.R. Martin, who wrote the Game of Thrones novels and serves as a writer and a producer on the show.

While no details about the potential plots of any of the four spinoffs have been shared, HBO said they will “explore different time periods of George R. R. Martin’s vast and rich universe”.

Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss will also be involved in all of the projects, HBO confirmed.

The end is nigh: Game of Thrones returns for season seven in July, and will end after season eight next year | HBO

“Weiss and Benioff continue to work on finishing up the seventh season and are already in the midst of writing and preparing for the eighth and final season,” the network said in a statement, according to EW.

“We have kept them up to date on our plans and they will be attached, along with George R. R. Martin, as executive producers on all projects. We will support them as they take a much-deserved break from writing about Westeros once the final season is complete.”

Game of Thrones is ending after its eighth season in 2018, and will kick off season seven on July 16th.
